Dental Implant Timeline

Timeline of your journey towards a new smile

From start to finish, the average dental implant timeline is around 18 weeks. This may be longer or shorter depending on the materials used and how well your body heals and takes to the implant. It is important to remember that this is a surgery, and nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the complexity of the human body. At Station Dental our dentists and specialists have comprehensive training in dental implant surgery and take the utmost care to ensure the best probability of success.

Step 1 – Diagnosis and Decision Making

At your first dental implant consultation, your Station Dental implant team will perform a comprehensive evaluation, giving you the knowledge to make the decision as to which implant treatment process is right for you.

Step 2 – Implant Treatment Planning

Working with your dentist, a full treatment plan is scheduled in order to ensure the best outcome with your new dental implants.

Step 3 – Surgery and Implant Placement

The dental implant is surgically placed in your jaw and the gum tissue is formed around the implant. A temporary restoration may be placed on the implant during the healing stage.

Step 4 – Healing

During the healing phase, the bone around the implant will grow and integrate with the implant surface. This can take 3-4 weeks, or as much as a few months.

Step 5 – Creating New Teeth

An impression is taken of your implant from which a dental lab will create your unique restoration, custom designed to match the natural aesthetics of your own face and smile.

Step 6 – Placement of the Final Restoration

Your final crown or denture is connected to the implant(s), leaving your free to smile, bite, and chew as you did with your natural teeth.
